Naruto Episode #1 - Enter: Naruto Uzumaki! As the first scene opens up, a full moon comes into view. Under its light lies a gigantic nine-tailed demon fox. A voice explains that this fox terrorized the village of Konoha long ago. To stop the fox shinobis of Konoha fought against it. As the battle raged on the NineTails started pulling ahead and winning the battle. The voice continues to explain how strong the demon fox is and how the shinobis fought desperately to beat it. When the ninjas start losing hope the fourth Hokage appears on a giant frog and uses a technique that seals the demon fox away into a baby boy. The voice then resumes saying that the Fourth Hokage sacrificed him life to beat the NineTails. The episode then begins with the opening theme song playing in the background. The scene changes and we see a twelve year old boy running away from fellow shinobis carrying a paint bucket in his hand. As he runs down the streets of Konoha the shinobis chasing him yell at him about how disrespectful it is to put spray paint all over the great stone faces of the previous Hokages. Meanwhile, two other shinobis are telling the Third Hokage about Naruto’s misbehavior. The scene goes back to Naruto running away from the ninjas. Just when you think that Naruto ran past, he actually camouflaged himself into a fence with a sheet. When he takes down the camouflage sheet a man comes up and surprises him. This man is Naruto’s teacher Iruka-sensei. Iruka then asks Naruto what he was doing during class. Back in class Iruka explains to Naruto who is currently tied up on the floor that he is going to fail the graduation exam for a third time if he doesn’t shape up. For the lesson of the day Iruka tells the class to review the Henge no Jutsu (Transformation Jutsu). Haruno Sakura goes first and succeeds with transforming into Iruka-sensei with ease. Uchiha Sasuke then goes and passes. Naruto finally gets his turn and performs Sexy no Jutsu (Sexy Jutsu) instead of the Henge no Jutsu which makes Iruka nosebleed (in the English version he just flies backward). When Naruto dispels the technique he laughs at Iruka who in turns yells at Naruto about not creating stupid techniques. The scene then changes to Naruto who is cleaning the great stone faces which he previous graphitized. While Iruka is sitting on one of the stone faces he tells Naruto that he doesn’t get to go home until he’s done cleaning up the mess he made. Naruto responds by saying that he doesn’t care because there isn’t anyone at home anyway. Iruka then tells Naruto that after he finished, they can both go out for some ramen. With this Naruto gets excited and finishes up quickly! The next scene takes place in the ramen shop. While eating ramen Iruka asks Naruto while he put paint on the great stone faces and also asks if he knows who the Hokages are. Naruto tells Iruka that the Hokages are the strongest ninjas in the village and the reason he put the paint on the great stone faces is because one day he will surpass all the previous Hokages and make the village acknowledge his strength. Naruto also asks Iruka if he could try on his forehead protector. Iruka tells him that he can get one tomorrow if he graduates. The next day the final exam comes and Iruka-sensei tells the class that they have to perform a Bushin no Jutsu (Clone Jutsu) to pass. Naruto gets nervous because this is his worst jutsu. As he steps up to the task he tries the jutsu and creates a useless clone. Iruka tells Naruto that he failed. Mizuki tells Iruka that maybe they should cut Naruto a little slack and let him pass because technically. Iruka tells him that everyone else made three clones and Naruto only made a worthless one so he can’t pass. After the exam everyone is seen outside acting happy because they graduated. Naruto sits all alone and sad on a swing away from the group. Mizuki-sensei appears and takes Naruto into town where they start to talk. He tells Naruto that Iruka isn’t against him and only wants Naruto to become genuinely strong. Naruto stays sad because he really wanted to graduate. Mizuki then tells Naruto a “secret” about how he can pass the graduation exam! At night Iruka-sensei is seen lying in bed resting and thinking about how Naruto and he are almost the same because they both grew up without parents. In a flashback we see Iruka being taken away from the battle with the NineTails demon fox. Suddenly Iruka comes about and Mizuki says through Iruka’s door that Naruto has stolen the scroll of sealing and wants him to come immediately to see the Hokage. In the forest Naruto is reading the Seal of Scrolls. The first jutsu in the scroll is in fact a Kage Bushin(Shadow Clone), Naruto’s worst justu. Meanwhile at Lord Hokage’s place he orders ninjas to go out and retrieve Naruto and the scroll. As Mizuki starts his search for Naruto he talks to himself about his plans to kill Naruto and take the Scroll of Seals for himself! Iruka ends up finding Naruto first and notices how he must have been training for a long time since he looked worn out. Naruto tells Iruka he only learned one skill so far. Naruto next asks Iruka if he can pass the gradation exam now since he learned one of the techniques from the scroll. Iruka surprised about Naruto’s comment asks Naruto who told him he could pass. Naruto tells Iruka that mizuki said so. Out of nowhere kunais are flung toward Iruka and Naruto. Iruka pushes Naruto out of the way and takes the hit. Mizuki then appears and tells Iruka that he’s impressed that he found Naruto so quickly. Mizuki then tells Naruto to give him the scroll. Iruka interrupts Mizuki and tells Naruto not to give him the scroll. He says Mizuki is just out to steal the scroll and use its power. If the scroll is put in the wrong hands the village could end up in jeopardy. Mizuki then starts to tell Naruto about a rule that was created twelve years ago. As Mizuki tells Naruto the rule Iruka constantly yells at Mizuki not to tell Naruto. The rule was that nobody in the village was allowed to tell Naruto that he was in fact the NineTails demon fox. Mizuki continues messing with Naruto’s head by saying things about how the whole village lied to him his whole entire life and the fact that everyone hated him because he was the NineTails. Naruto feeling confused and lost doesn’t react fast enough while Mizuki prepares to kill him. From high up in the tree Mizuki takes the giant throwing star off his back and throws it toward Naruto. Naruto quickly tries escaping but falls down and covers his head. After he opened his eyes there was Iruka who took a direct hit in the back with the star for him. While they lie there Iruka tells Naruto about how they were both the same; they both acted like idiots and grew up without parents. Mizuki angry yells at Naruto some more about how Iruka just wants the scroll for himself. Still scared and confused Naruto gets up and runs away into the woods. As Iruka pulls gets up and pulls out the star Mizuki says he bets Naruto will get revenge on the village now. Iruka very angry flings the giant ninja star towards Mizuki, missing. Mizuki then heads out to find Naruto and get the scroll from him. The next scene takes place back at Lord Hokage’s office. Using his glass ball Lord Hokage watched the whole incident with Mizuki, Iruka and Naruto in the forest. As he speaks to himself he mentions that now since Naruto is so scared there is a chance that he may break the seal of the NineTails and unleash its power. Now back in the forest while Naruto is running away, Iruka comes up and says that what Mizuki said is all false and he should give him the scroll. Unexpectingly Naruto head butts Iruka and knocks him down. Iruka gets up and asks Naruto how he knew…that he wasn’t Iruka. He then dispels the Henge no Jutsu (Transformation Jutsu) revealing that he was Mizuki in disguise! Naruto responds with dispelling his own Henge no Jutsu (Transformation Jutsu) revealing that he is actually Iruka! While Mizuki and Iruka start to talk, Naruto listens in on their conversation hiding behind a nearby tree. They continue to talk how the NineTails probably is going to use the power of the scroll for himself. Naruto become extremely horrific that Iruka deep down hates him. Iruka then says to Mizuki that if he were the demon fox he would use its power, but not Naruto. Iruka continues to praise Naruto saying how he’s an excellent ninja who is hardworking and dedicated. Naruto after hearing this breaks into tears. Mizuki saying Iruka is hopeless decides to finish him now! Right when Iruka is about to die Naruto appears and kicks Mizuki right in the face sending him flying. Naruto really angry at mizuki threatens him saying if he lays one finger on Iruka he’ll kill him. Naruto then performs Kage Bunshin no Jutsu (Shadow Clone Jutsu)! He creates hundreds of solid clones that he uses to surround Mizuki. Mizuki scared stiff doesn’t do anything and all of the clones attack and beat him up. The scene shifts to Lord Hokage’s office with all the ninjas. None of them ended up finding Naruto. While they continue to tell Lord Hokage the bad news he tells them all that Naruto will be back soon. After the battle with Mizuki, Iruka leads Naruto away and presents him with a gift. He gives him his own forehead protector and congratulates Naruto on passing the academy! While Naruto is dumbfounded Iruka tells him even better news, they’re going out for ramen tonight!
