Naruto Episode #7 - The Assassin of the Mist Team 7 along with Tazuna are silently rowing through a thick fog. Their driver tells them that the Land of Waves isn't too far away. Naruto is in awe as they pass by the enormous yet unfinished bridge that Tazuna is constructing. Naruto loudly comments on how large the bridge is and the boat driver scolds him. They are quietly taking this secret route so they won't be seen by "them". With slight anger, Kakashi tells Tazuna to tell them, before they reach the Land of Waves, who is after him and why. If Tazuna does not say, Kakashi will be forced to drop him off in the Land of Waves, and he and the rest of Team 7 will return to Konoha. Tazuna realizes he has no other choice, and tells them the man after him is a very short man who casts a very long shadow. Kakashi wonders who it is, and Tazuna assures him that he's heard of him. His name is Gato, the owner of a large shipping company. Kakashi is shocked to hear this, as everyone knows who Gato is, but apparently Naruto doesn't. Tazuna explains that Gato is not just merely a businessman, but he also takes over businesses and countries with the money he makes from selling drugs and contraband. He also has a large gang of thugs and ninja in his grasp. Gato came to the Land of Waves one year ago, and with his vast amounts of money, he took complete control over the small island. Anyone who stood in his away would disappear. Gato, the man who has complete control over everything on the small island nation, is afraid of one thing, the bridge. The bridge would link their island to land, making Gato's ships unnecessary for trade. Sakura realizes that Tazuna is the one man in that gangster's way, and Sasuke realizes that the Demon Brothers from the forest were hired by Gato. Naruto looks confused. Kakashi again asks Tazuna why he'd hide all of this information when requesting a mission in Konoha. Tazuna tells him that the Land of Waves is a poor nation where even the nobles have little money. He couldn't afford an A or B-rank mission. If Kakashi chooses to turn around and drop him off, he will surely be assassinated before the bridge is anywhere near complete. Tazuna tries to make them feel guilty by saying if they were to drop him off, his grandson and daughter would forever live in sorrow. Of course now, they can't refuse. The boat driver informs them that they will reach the shore shortly. He is grateful that they hadn't encountered anyone on their way. The boat enters through a dark tunnel, and on the other side is Tazuna's beautiful, coastal, and sunny village. The boat driver stops at the docks and tells them he can't take them any further, but he wishes them luck. Tazuna thanks the driver bids him farewell. He orders Team 7 to take him to his home, and to get him there in one piece. Kakashi is a bit disappointed, as the next ninja they'll encounter won't be Chunin, but they'll be Jonin, elite ninja with special skills. As they walk through a forest, Naruto pledges that he won't lose to Sasuke. He immediately runs forward and claims that he hears something. He launches a kunai to the right, straight into a bush. Kakashi, Tazuna, and Sakura are all shocked. Naruto tells them that it was just a mouse, but Sakura yells at him because it was obvious there wasn't even anything there. Kakashi tells him to be more careful with his kunai knives, and Tazuna yells at him for scaring him like that. Naruto claims that someone is following them, and Kakashi senses something to his left. Naruto throws another kunai towards the spot and Sakura slugs him in the face for being an idiot. Kakashi moves some branches to reveal that there was something there, a white rabbit, scared to death with a kunai inches from its head. Naruto approaches the white rabbit, hugging it and apologizing to it, but Kakashi analyzes the situation. It was a snow rabbit, which only have white fur in the winter. Kakashi realizes that the animal must have been raised indoors for the sole purpose of a replacement jutsu. Zabuza Momochi, the demon of the Hidden Mist is watching from a tree above. He isn't surprised that the Demon Brothers were defeated so easily, as that is the Copy Ninja from the Village Hidden in the Leaves, Kakashi, the Sharingan. Zabuza disappears and Kakashi senses it. He tells the others to duck down as an enormous sword comes flying towards Tazuna. The sword barely misses Tazuna and hits a nearby tree, where Zabuza is standing on its handle. Kakashi realizes who this ninja is, as Naruto believes this is his chance to shine (as he shakes in fear). Kakashi greets Zabuza Momochi, the rogue ninja from the Village Hidden in the Mist. Naruto isn't scares as he darts forward before being abruptly stopped by Kakashi. Kakashi tells Naruto that their enemy is on another level from those other ninja, he'll have to use his secret weapon. Kakashi begins to adjust his forehead protector upwards as Zabuza comments on this weapon, the Sharingan eye. Sasuke is in shock. Zabuza orders them to hand over Tazuna, as Kakashi keeps his hand over his forehead protector. Naruto, Sakura, and Tazuna wonder what this Sharingan is. Kakashi tells them all to protect the bridge builder, and stay out of this fight. Kakashi finally reveals his hidden left eye, the Sharingan. It's an eerie red eye with three black symbols around the pupil. There is also a diagnol slash through his eye going down into his cheek. Naruto is clueless and Zabuza is honored to face the Sharingan. Naruto asks what exactly it is and Sasuke tells him that it's a rare power residing in the eyes. It's an eye jutsu, or Doutjutsu, the causes the user to easily comprehend any form of jutsu an enemy uses and reflect the attack back on him. It's a rare form of Doujutsu, and Sasuke explains that there's even more to it than that. Zabuza tells Sasuke that he is right, but that it can also analyze an attack and copy even the smallest detail. Their surroundings immediately become foggy as Zabuza explains that when he was a Jonin for the Mist village, they were ordered to kill Kakashi on sight, the man who's copied over a thousand jutsus, the Copy Ninja. Sakura and Naruto can't believe that their sensei is such a renowned ninja. Sasuke wonders why Kakashi has the Sharingan, a trait that is passed down in the Uchiha Clan...his clan. Zabuza tells them to stop the talk, as he needs to exterminate the old man. Team 7 immediately positions themselves in a protective circle around Tazuna as Kakashi is prepared to fight Zabuza. With blinding speed, Zabuza appears standing on a nearby lake in the process of a jutsu. Kakashi can tell he's building up an enormous amount of chakra as a whirlwind of mist begins to swirl around Zabuza. Zabuza uses the Ninja Art: Hidden Mist Jutsu and disappears into a thick white fog. Kakashi tells them that their adversary is Zabuza Momochi, the ex-leader of the Hidden Mist Assassination Unit. He's a master in the art of silent killing. He explains that a master of this art can kill you without making a sound, you'd die so fast you wouldn't even have time to react. The Sharingan can't fully neutralize the jutsu, so they must be on their guard. Kakashi jokes and tells them that if they fail, they'll only lose their lives. Sakura doesn't find it too funny as Naruto comments on how the mist is getting even thicker. Tazuna explains that the Land of Waves is surrounded by the ocean and thick mists. The fog becomes so thick that they lose sight of their sensei. The hear Zabuza's creepy voice state the eight deadly points of attack on a human body. He asks himself which point he should aim for. Everyone is amazed by Zabuza's arrogance. Kakashi performs a jutsu to clear away most of the mist. Sasuke is becoming short of breath, the pressure of such an intense battle between Jonin is suffocating him, he feels like he's going insane. Sasuke can't take it anymore, but before he can stab himself with his own kunai, Kakashi reassures them all that he'll protect them with his life. He tells them he'll never let his comarades die, and he smiles and tells them to trust him. Zabuza believes that's false as he appears out of nowhere, directly in front of Tazuna, in between the Team 7 defense. Before he can swing his massive blade, Kakashi jets toward him and stabs him with a kunai, but it's only a water clone. Naruto tells Kakashi to watch his back as the real Zabuza is waiting for him from behind. Zabuza slices Kakashi in half, but to his amazement, it was a water clone! Even in the thick mist, Kakashi copied Zabuza's Water Clone Jutsu and saw through his ploy in an instant. The actual Kakashi holds a kunai up to Zabuza's neck and tells him not to move, their fight is over. Next Episode! The Oath of Pain Oh no, it's not over! Kakashi-sensei fell into Zabuza's trap. I've got to escape, he'll annhiliate me for real! Ugh...This pain...Hey! What am I doing? I made up my mind, didn't I? I swore I wouldn't run away no matter what. Next time: The Oath of Pain.
