Naruto Episode #8 - The Oath of Pain Kakashi is enshrouded in a thick fog as he keeps his senses keen, unaware of Zabuza's whereabouts. He performs a jutsu to remove most of the fog, but Zabuza still can't be seen. Sasuke can not take the pressure of such a heated battle, and he feels like he's going insane. The feeling is so chilling that the young Genin almost stabs himself with a kunai, but Kakashi yells and tells him to calm down, he'll protect them with his life. Kakashi will not let his comrades die, smiling, he tells them to trust him. Zabuza doesn't believe so as he appears from out of the blue directly in front of Tazuna. Before he can attack, Kakashi lunges forward and stabs him with a kunai knife. It wasn't Zabuza though, it was a water clone. The real Zabuza is behind Kakashi, and Naruto warns him. Before Kakashi can react on Naruto's warning, he is sliced in half by the Demon of the Mist. To Zabuza's dismay, it was also a water clone of Kakashi. The actual Kakashi holds a kunai up to Zabuza's neck and tells him that the battle's over. Everyone is quiet until Naruto breaks the silence with a loud exclamation. Kakashi believes it's over, but Zabuza begins laughing. He claims that he'll never be defeated by a copycat ninja, which angers Kakashi. Zabuza does compliment Kakashi on copying his Water Clone Jutsu during his speech to his Genin. He made his clone say those words as a distraction as he hid in the mist. Zabuza tells him that he's not that easy to fool. This Zabuza was a clone also, as the real Zabuza jabs Kakashi into the clone with the handle of his sword. Naruto can't believe it as Zabuza barely misses Kakashi's head with a full sweep of his sword. He quickly switches hands while the Copy Ninja's guard is down and gives him a strong kick to the face, sending him through the mist. With blazing speed, Zabuza sprints toward Kakashi's airborn body, but he's slowed down by several tiny, sharp spikes set down by the Leaf Jonin. Zabuza calls Kakashi foolish for attempting to slow him down like that, and he leaps into the water. Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke all watch on in amazement. When Kakashi rises above the surface of the water he had just plunged into, he realizes he isn't in normal water as it's dense and heavy. Before Kakashi can react, Zabuza appears from behind and performs several hand seals and uses his Water Prison Jutsu. Kakashi looks troubled as a spherical water prison forms around him. Zabuza, maintaining the prison with one hand inside, tells him that the prison is made of water, but it's stronger than steel. Zabuza tells Kakashi that since he's trapped, he'll finish off his little friends now. Kakashi can't believe he underestimated the mist ninja so much. Zabuza performs the Water Clone jutsu one-handed and a water clone springs from the water. Naruto looks terrified as Zabuza begins to lecture the three Genin. He tells them that wearing a headband doesn't make them a ninja, but hovering between life and death does, or being entered in his Bingo Book. Calling them ninja would be a joke. The clone disappears into the mist, reappearing quickly to kick Naruto square in the face. Due to the rough kick, Naruto's forehead protector fell off, and the clone steps on it, calling them brats. Kakashi yells for them to take Tazuna and flee the fight, as they can't win. Zabuza's using all of his power to restrain Kakashi within the prison, so the water clone can't travel to far away from his body. Sasuke knows that running is not an option. Sasuke knows that even if they do run, he'll track them down and kill them. If they try defending Tazuna again, he'll just get around it in an instant. He knows that without Kakashi, they're finished either way, so they must rescue him. Sasuke runs toward Zabuza, flinging kunai and shuriken, all easily blocked by the mist ninja's enormous sword. Sasuke, within a few feet, leaps into the air and readies himself for a powerful punch to Zabuza's head. Before Sasuke can attack, Zabuza grabs Konoha's #1 rookie in mid-air by the neck. He launches Sasuke to the side and Sakura and Naruto both look frightened. Naruto is so frightened, he begins shaking, and realizes he must run away to survive. As he's about to get up he glances at his left hand, where he made the oath to never run away from a fight. Naruto begins reminiscing. remembering his promise. As he looks at the clone's foot, stomping on his forehead protector, he remembers all he's gone through to become a ninja, and how important it is to him. Naruto gets himself up, and with determination, dashes towards Zabuza. Kakashi tells him not to, along with Sakura, but he persists. Zabuza forces Naruto all the way back to Sasuke and Sakura, and Sakura questions Naruto on why he just did that, as they are only Genin and they surely couldn't defeat a Jonin. Naruto, struggling to get up, reveals his headband. Naruto gets up defiantly and calls to Zabuza, "the freak with no eye brows". Naruto tells him to put this in his Bingo Book, that the one who will be the strongest Hokage, the one that never backs down, his name is Naruto Uzumaki. A distressed Zabuza looks at the boy, and Tazuna praises Naruto's guts. Naruto tells Sasuke that he has a plan, and Sakura can't believe his determination. Naruto and Sasuke's plan is about to commence, but Zabuza comments on how foolish they are. Kakashi, once again, tells them to run away since the fight was over the moment he was trapped. Their mission isn't to be brave, it is to save the bridge builder. Naruto asks Tazuna if it's alright, and out of guilt, he grants them permission to save Kakashi. Zabuza lets out a devilish laugh and tells the Genin that he had crushed many adversaries by the time he was there age. Kakashi calls him Zabuza, the demon and the mist ninja is pleased to hear that Kakashi had heard his legend. Kakashi begins to explain that in the Village Hidden in the Mist, or Blood Mist Village, before becoming a ninja there was one final test. Zabuza is surprised he's heard of their graduation exam, and Naruto asks what it is. Zabuza begins laughing, and Naruto doesn't see what the big deal is, as they had a graduation exam also. Zabuza asks Naruto if they had to annihilate their fellow opponents. Naruto is shocked as Zabuza explains how the same aspiring ninja who were friends with each other would eventually have to kill one another in the final exam. Kakashi goes on and tells them that 10 years ago in the Village Hidden in the Mist changed their final exam, because the year before, a dark evil terrorized their school. Sakura wonders what he's talking about. Kakashi continues with the story and tells them of a young boy, not even a ninja, who approached the class. He easily took down a hundred opponents. Zabuza is silent, and then tells them how that felt so good. Team 7 is in awe over the fact that the young boy who had that village's final exam changed was Zabuza. Before they can even comment, Zabuza charges toward Sasuke and rams him with his left shoulder. While Sasuke's on the ground, Zabuza elbows him hard in the stomach. Sasuke shouts in pain as the Demon of the Hidden Mist stomps on his chest. Kakashi's frustration grows within the prison as he watches helplessly. In an effort to help, Naruto uses his Shadow Clone Jutsu. Several clones gather around Zabuza, all with kunai in hand. All of the clones pounce on Zabuza, but he easily springs them off, destroying them all. Without losing an ounce of determination, Naruto reveals that he still has something to defeat him and he tosses something to Sasuke as he is sent backwards. Sasuke grabs it and realizes what Naruto's plan was. Sasuke takes the object, a demon wind shuriken, and with an acrobatic leap in the air, he sends the shuriken towards Zabuza. The large shurken whizzes by the water clone and is headed straight for the actual Zabuza, who is still holding Kakashi in the prison. Zabuza praises them for their idea, but he easily grabs the shuriken. Zabuza is shocked to see a second shuriken in the shadow of the first, Sasuke had used the Shadow Shuriken Jutsu. Zabuza tells himself that a shuriken would never defeat him as he easily dodges the second shuriken with a jump. It seems they have failed, but Sasuke grins. As the second shuriken passes under Zabuza's feet, it turns into a cloud of smoke and Naruto appears. It hadn't been a second shuriken at all, it was Naruto using a transform the whole time! Next Episode! Kakashi: Sharingan Warrior! Yeah, I did it! The plan worked! A ninja must see through deception, but Zabuza had no clue what I was up to. I totally fooled 'em!
